Fear-filled Warrior

I am a warrior.
I face fear head on.
I know when something is not right.

a ball of fire burns in my belly.
screaming out to me.

but that does not make me.

I am in pain.
the kind you don’t complain about.
just. only to yourself.

my mind picks at the scabs. while I.

my eyes are heavy.
but the discomfort. keeps me awake.

I remember the times when I escaped so. easily.
tucked my fears into a drawer.
they could wait. for later.
and later meant. never.

I have so many saved up.
I expect restless nights. for years.

but. I will pick up each one.
study it closely.
let it move. through my body.

I. will. swallow. that fear until it becomes me.
and until I. overcome. it.
my strength crushing its power.

I breathe.
I am a warrior.
